Updates: Tidy, Site, Travel

Welcome to this month’s edition of random news! Here are a few updates for those of you who are following balthisar.com:

Balthisar Tidy

Updates should be coming shortly. At the very least, newly-compiled versions in Xcode 6 will probably make Tidy take advantage of new features coming up in Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite. Or maybe not. This is still something I have to research.

Balthisar Tidy also has some new features in the roadmap! This list isn’t a guarantee of new features for the next version, but these are things that you can look forward to for an unspecified amount of time:

  • Syntax highlighting Balthisar Tidy isn’t meant to be a full-fledged editor, but enough of you have made the case that it makes interpreting changes easier, so I’ll find a solution and deliver this to you in an update. Hopefully before the end of this year!
  • Service The old Tidy Service for Mac OS X hasn’t been updated in several years. It seems logical to let Balthisar Tidy fill that gap! This means you will be able to leverage the power of Balthisar Tidy from any application that uses Mac OS X services!

And there’s more! But we won’t talk about them just yet.

Travel

Updates have been slow, as work has been busy. As many of you know, I am an American living in Nanjing, China working full time for an American company that has nothing to do with software or computers or IT (I’m a manufacturing engineer / engineering manager). In the last two months I’ve had to spend my time in some of our manufacturing facilities:

  • Ahmedabad, India
  • Chongqing, China
  • Hangzhou, China
  • Rayong, Thailand

Pizza

Because I can’t enjoy an original Cloverleaf or descendant Buddy’s, I’ve had to learn how to make my own Detroit style pizza. And I’m damned good at it.

Detroit style pizza is a real thing. Google it. Or use Baidu if your country blocks Google.
